Transformations : Drawings into Prints
Midsummer event at studio of artist Geoffrey Bayliss
The Jane Deering Gallery will host an open studio event presenting the drawings and prints of Gloucester artist Geoffrey Bayliss at his East Gloucester studio on Saturday August 8th from 1:00-6:00pm. Bayliss’s recent work is primarily devoted to making viscosity monotypes printed on an American French Tool etching press. The new prints are inspired by earlier ink drawings Bayliss produced between 1999 and 2003 and reflect his interest in transforming past visions into present observations.
Bayliss, a native of Gloucester, graduated with a degree in architecture from Columbia University in 1982.
He has studied with painter and printmaker Celia Eldridge and sculptor John Bozarth. The Jane Deering Gallery represents Bayliss and has included his work in numerous exhibitions in Gloucester and Boston, MA and Montecito CA. Bayliss was recently awarded the top Viewer’s Choice Award at the seARTS exhibition currently on view at Bass Rocks Golf Club. His work is held in private collections in the US.
