Opening reception : Thursday, August 1st . 5–7pm

JDG presents contemporary art by established and emerging artists, both national and international. The gallery has a strong interest in artists living and working on Cape Ann, Massachusetts, an area rich in artistic heritage. The superb light and rugged features of its coastline have long been an attraction for artists of international renown, among them Milton Avery, Marsden Hartley, John Marin, Arthur Dove, Edward Hopper, Stuart Davis to name a few. The contemporary work created in this area continues to be robust and innovative. The gallery also has a focus on contemporary Californian artists, and shows a selection of international artists represented by Purdy Hicks Gallery of London UK.

JDG @ The Shed

JDG SHED sits on the Deering's property—the 1792 home of Asa Woodbury. The shed was once a dilapidated storage structure; renovated in 2002, it serves as an adjunct to the main gallery in downtown Gloucester. The SHED is beloved by visitors for the intimate exhibitions there as well as the creative renovation by builder Steve Phillips.

JDG @ The Garage

JDG GARAGE opened in 2015 on Deering's Concord property which overlooks the Sudbury River and a short walk from Concord center. Once a storage bay for an old car, the bay was converted into a bright contemporary space with a wall of glass opening views to the river. Deering credits builder Steve Phillips for his ingenious conversion from cement bay into gleaming exhibition studio.
